Story: Why Does the Frog Croak?

Story: Why Does the Frog Croak?   Lesson 1

A. Listen and read (শোন এবং পড়).

What sound does a frog make (একটি ব্যাঙ কি ধরনের শব্দ করে)? Croak, croak (ঘ্যাঙর ঘ্যাঙর)! It isn't a beautiful sound (এটি একটি সুন্দর শব্দ নয়). But, a long time ago, frogs had beautiful voices (কিন্তু, অনেক দিন আগে, ব্যাঙের সুন্দর কণ্ঠস্বর ছিল). They could sing more beautiful than the birds (তারা পাখির চেয়ে বেশি সুন্দর গান গাইতে পারত). This all changed because of one frog named Bluster (ব্লাস্টার নামে একটি ব্যাঙের কারণে এই সমস্ত পরিবর্তন হয়েছে).

Bluster had the most beautiful voice of all the animals (ব্লাস্টারের সমস্ত প্রাণীর মধ্যে সবচেয়ে সুন্দর কণ্ঠস্বর ছিল). When he sang, all the other animals came to hear him (যখন সে গান গাইত, তখন অন্য সমস্ত প্রাণীরা তার গান শুনতে আসত). They enjoyed listening to him (তারা তার গান শুনে উপভোগ করত). "Please teach us how to sing!" the animals asked ("দয়া করে আমাদের শেখাও কিভাবে গান গাইতে হয়!" পশুরা জিজ্ঞাসা করল). But Bluster always answered in the same way (কিন্তু ব্লাস্টার সবসময় একই ভাবে উত্তর দেয়). "No, no (না, না). My voice is mine (আমার কণ্ঠস্বর আমার). I cannot share it," he said (আমি এটা ভাগাভাগি করতে পারি না," বলত).

One morning, Moxie the rabbit and Pluck the lizard talked to the fox and the rat (এক সকালে খরগোস মোক্সি ও টিকটিকি প্লাক শেয়াল ও ইদুরের সাথে কথা বলল). "Bluster has such a big, beautiful voice ("ব্লাস্টারের এত বড়, সুন্দর কণ্ঠস্বর রয়েছে). Surely, he can share it with us," said Moxie (অবশ্যই, সে এটি আমাদের সাথে ভাগভাগি করে নিতে পারে, "Moxie বলল). They agreed (তারা একমত হয়েছিল). Bluster should share his voice with them (ব্লাস্টারকে তাদের সাথে তার কণ্ঠস্বর ভাগ করে নেওয়া উচিত). It was such a big voice (এটা এত বড় একটা কণ্ঠস্বর). Each animal could have just a small piece of it (প্রতিটি প্রাণীর একটি ছোট টুকরা থাকা উচিৎ). Bluster could share his voice with each animal (ব্লাস্টার প্রতিটি প্রাণীর সাথে তার কণ্ঠস্বর ভাগ করে নিতে পারত).

The animals talked and talked late into the afternoon (পশুরা বিকেল পর্যন্ত কথা বলে চলল). They made a plan to take Bluster's voice (তারা ব্লাস্টারের কণ্ঠস্বর নেওয়ার জন্য একটি পরিকল্পনা করেছিল). They decided not to tell the birds (তারা সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে যে তারা পাখিদের বলবে না). But, they didn't have to tell them (কিন্তু তাদের [পাখিদের] বলতে হয়নি তাদের)! The birds were sitting in the tree and they heard the animals' plan (পাখিরা গাছে বসে ছিল এবং তারা প্রাণীদের পরিকল্পনা শুনেছিল).

At midnight, Pluck and Moxie quietly went to Bluster's home (মধ্যরাতে, প্লাক এবং মক্সি নিরবে ব্লাস্টারের বাড়িতে গিয়েছিল). Bluster was sleeping in his bed, and without making a sound, they took his voice (ব্লাস্টার তার বিছানায় ঘুমাচ্ছিল, এবং কোনও শব্দ না করেই, তারা তার কণ্ঠস্বর নিয়ে নিল)! They put it into a glass jar (তারা এটিকে একটি কাচের পাত্রে রাখল).

Pluck and Moxie took the glass jar outside (প্লাক এবং মক্সি কাচের পাত্রটি বাইরে নিয়ে গেল). The other animals were waiting (অন্য প্রাণীরা অপেক্ষা করছিল). "Oh, give me my piece ("ওহ, আমার টুকরাটা আমাকে দাও।)!" said the fox (শিয়াল বলল). "I want my piece ("আমি আমার টুকরা চাই)!" said the rat (ইঁদুরটি বলল). Suddenly, the jar fell to the ground and it broke (হঠাৎ, পাত্রটি মাটিতে পড়ে যায় এবং এটি ভেঙে যায়). Bluster's voice and the jar were now in a hundred little pieces (ব্লাস্টারের কণ্ঠস্বর এবং পাত্রটি এখন একশোটি ছোট ছোট টুকরো হয়ে গেল).

"Oh, no (ওহ, না)!" cried Moxie (মক্সি কেঁদে উঠল). The animals searched, but they couldn't find any of the pieces (প্রাণীরা অনুসন্ধান করেছিল, কিন্তু তারা কোনও টুকরো খুঁজে পায়নি). It was too dark and the pieces were too small (তখন খুব অন্ধকার ছিল এবং টুকরাগুলি খুব ছোট ছিল). "What are we going to do ("আমরা কি করতে যাচ্ছি)?" asked Pluck (প্লাক জিজ্ঞাসা করল). "We will come back in the morning," said Moxie ("আমরা সকালে ফিরে আসব," মক্সি বলল). And, all the animals went home without a piece of Bluster's beautiful voice (এবং, সমস্ত প্রাণী ব্লাস্টারের সুন্দর কণ্ঠস্বরের একটি টুকরো ছাড়াই বাড়িতে চলে গেল). They were all very tired from looking for the voice, so they went to sleep (তারা সবাই কণ্ঠস্বরের সন্ধানে খুব ক্লান্ত ছিল, তাই তারা ঘুমাতে গিয়েছিল).

In the morning, as the sun came up, the birds went out to have their breakfast (সকালে, সূর্য উঠে আসার সাথে সাথে পাখিরা তাদের প্রাতঃরাশের জন্য বাইরে গিয়েছিল). With their good eyes, the birds saw the little pieces of the beautiful voice on the ground (তাদের ভাল চোখ দিয়ে, পাখিগুলি মাটিতে সুন্দর কণ্ঠস্বরের ছোট ছোট টুকরোগুলি দেখেছিল). They carefully picked up the pieces (তারা সাবধানে টুকরাগুলি তুলে নিয়েছিল). They didn't leave one piece of the beautiful voice behind (তারা সুন্দর কণ্ঠস্বরের এক টুকরোও পিছনে ফেলে যায়নি).

That afternoon, the animals finally woke up (সেই বিকেলে, প্রাণীরা অবশেষে জেগে উঠল). They ran to get the pieces of Bluster's voice, but all they found there was broken glass (তারা ব্লাস্টারের কণ্ঠস্বরের টুকরোগুলি পেতে দৌড়েছিল, তবে তারা সেখানে যা পেয়েছিল তা কেবল ভাঙা কাচ ছিল). They searched and searched, but there were no pieces of the voice (তারা অনুসন্ধানের পর অনুসন্ধান করেছিল, কিন্তু কণ্ঠস্বরের কোনও টুকরো ছিল না). Then, suddenly, they heard a beautiful song coming from the trees (তারপর, হঠাৎ, তারা গাছ থেকে আসছে  এমন একটি সুন্দর গান শুনতে পায়). And to this day, the birds sing with Bluster's beautiful voice, and Bluster, and all the other frogs, can only say croak-croak (এবং আজ পর্যন্ত, পাখিগুলি ব্লাস্টারের সুন্দর কণ্ঠস্বরের সাথে গান গায়, এবং ব্লাস্টার, এবং অন্যান্য সমস্ত ব্যাঙ, কেবল ঘ্যাঙর ঘ্যাঙর  বলতে পারে).

1. I feel sorry for Bluster (আমি ব্লাস্টারের জন্য দুঃখ বোধ করি). Because he lost his wonderful voice without any fault (কারণ সে কোনও দোষ ছাড়াই তার বিস্ময়কর কণ্ঠস্বর হারিয়ে ফেলেছে). And I feel angry with the other animals for their shrewdness and cruelty (এবং আমি অন্যান্য প্রাণীদের সাথে তাদের চতুরতা এবং নিষ্ঠুরতার জন্য রাগান্বিত বোধ করি).

2. No, I don’t think this is a true story (না, আমি মনে করি না এটি একটি সত্য গল্প). Because animals cannot talk or work like human beings (কারণ প্রাণীরা মানুষের মতো কথা বলতে বা কাজ করতে পারে না).
