At A Bookshop – একটি বইয়ের দোকানে

A. Look at the picture and answer these questions (ছবিটির দিকে তাকাও এবং এই প্রশ্নগুলোর উত্তর দাও).

1. What is it (এটি কী)?

2. Where can you find it (তুমি এটি কোথায় খুঁজে পাও)?

3. Is there a bookshop near house or school or in your upazilla/town (তোমার বাড়ি অথবা বিদ্যালয় অথবা উপজেলা শহরের নিকটে কি কোন বইয়ের দোকান আছে)? Tell us about it (এটি সম্পর্কে আমাদের বল).

4. Can you guess what the people in the picture are talking about (তুমি কি অনুমান করতে পার ছবির লোকগুলো কী সম্পর্কে কথা বলছে)?

Answer:

1. It’s a bookshop (এটি একটি বইয়ের দোকান).

2. I can find it near a school or a college or at the market (আমি এটি বিদ্যালয় বা কলেজের কাছে বা বাজারে দেখতে/খুঁজে পাই).

3. Yes, there is a bookshop near our school (হ্যাঁ, আমাদের বিদ্যালয়ের কাছে একটি বইয়ের দোকান আছে). The keeper of the bookshop is very cordial (বইয়ের দোকানদার খুবই আন্তরিক). We can buy not only our academic books but also different types of novels and story books from this shop (এই দোকান থেকে আমরা শুধু আমাদের অধ্যয়ন বিষয়ক বই-ই কিনতে পারি না, বিভিন্ন ধরনের উপন্যাস এবং গল্পের বইও কিনতে পারি). We can also buy different types of academic materials such as pen, pencil, paper and others (এছাড়াও আমরা কিনতে পারি বিভিন্ন ধরনের একাডেমিক উপকরন যেমন কলম, পেন্সিল, কাগজ ও অন্যান্য).

4. Yes, I think they are talking about books (হ্যাঁ, আমি মনে করি তারা বই নিয়ে কথা বলছে).

B. Listen to the teacher / CD and answer the following questions (শিক্ষকের কথা বা সিডি শোন এবং নিচের প্রশ্নগুলোর উত্তর দাও).

BookSeller : Hello (ওহে)! Can I help you (আমি কি আপনাকে সাহায্য করতে পারি)?

Student : Yes, I need a copy of Learner’s Dictionary (হ্যাঁ, আমার একটি লার্নারস অভিধান দরকার).

BookSeller : Just a minute…(একটু অপেক্ষা করুন). Sorry, we are out of stock (দুঃক্ষিত, এটি আমাদের সংগ্রহে আর নেই). I can give you another dictionary (আমি আপনাকে অন্য অভিধান দিতে পারি). It is equally good (এটি সমান মানসম্পন্ন).

Student : Can I see it, please (দয়া করে আমি কি এটি দেখতে পারি)?

BookSeller : Sure (অবশ্যই). Here you are (এই নিন). It’s the last copy in stock (এটা আমাদের সংগ্রহে থাকা শেষ কপি).

Student : Brighter Dictionary (ব্রাইটার ডিকশনারি). Looks good (ভালোই হবে). Ok (ঠিক আছে). I’ll take it (আমি এটি নেব).

BookSeller : Anything else (আর কিছু লাগবে)?

Student : A story book ‘Stories to Remember’ (‘স্টোরিজ টু রিমেম্বর’ একটি গল্পের বই).

BookSeller : Here it is (এই নিন)!

Student : How much are they (এগুলোর দাম কত)?

BookSeller : Seven hundred fifty taka (সাতশত পঞ্চাশ টাকা).

Student : Here you are (এই নিন). Five hundred (পাঁচশত)….two hundred (দুইশত)….fifty (পঞ্চাশ). Seven fifty (সাতশত পঞ্চাশ).

BookSeller : Thank you (আপনাকে ধন্যবাদ). Please come again (আবার আসবেন).

Questions:

1. What do you mean by ‘in stock’ and ‘out of stock’ (তুমি ‘ইন স্টক’ এবং ‘আউট অব স্টক’ বলতে কি বোঝ)?

Answer:

1. I mean by ‘in stock’ is supply of goods available for sale or use and ‘out of stock’ is supply of goods unavailable for sale or use (আমি বুঝি যে in stock হলো কোন পন্যের বিক্রয় বা ব্যবহারের জন্য পর্যাপ্ত সরবরাহ থাকা এবং out of stock হলো কোন পন্যের বিক্রয় বা ব্যবহারের জন্য পর্যাপ্ত সরবরাহ না থাকা).

2. A student and a book seller are talking in this conversation (এই কথোপকথনে একজন শিক্ষার্থী ও বই বিক্রেতা কথা বলছে).

3. The conversation is taking place at a bookshop (কথোপকথনটি একটি বইয়ের দোকানে হচ্ছে).

4. The student wants two books (শীক্ষার্থীটি দুইটি বই চায়).

5. He wants to buy a story book and a dictionary (সে একটি গল্পের বই ও একটি অভিধান কেনতে চায়).

C. Work in pairs (যুগ্মভাবে কাজ কর). One of you is a customer and the other is a shop assistant (তোমাদের কেউ একজন ক্রেতা এবং অপরজন দোকানের সহকারী).

The following dialogue is not in the right order (নিচের সংলাপটি সঠিক ভাবে সাজানো নেই). Write the dialogue in correct order and act it out (সংলাপটি সঠিকভাবে সাজাও এনং এটি অভিনয় কর).
