A. Answer these questions (এই প্রশ্নগুলোর উত্তর দাও).

1. Have you ever eaten in a restaurant (তুমি কখনও কোনো রেস্তোরাঁয় খেয়েছ)?

2. If yes, where, when and who with (যদি খেয়ে থাক তবে কোথায়, কখন এবং কার সাথে)?

Answer:

1. Yes, I have eaten in a restaurant (হ্যাঁ, আমি একটি রেস্তোরাঁয় খেয়েছি).

2. Yes, I ate with my father at Star Kabab on a Friday in the afternoon (হ্যাঁ, আমি আমার বাবার সাথে একদিন শুক্রবারে বিকালে স্টার কাবাব-এ খেয়েছিলাম).

B. Listen to the teacher / CD and answer the following questions (শিক্ষকের কথা / সিডি শোন এবং নিচের প্রশ্নগুলোর উত্তর দাও).

Narrator (বর্ননাকারী): It is a good restaurant (এটি একটি ভাল মানের রেস্তোরা). Mr and Mrs Khan and their two children are sitting at the corner table (জনাব ও বেগম খান এবং তাদের দুই শিশু সন্তান কোনার একটি টেবিলে বসে আছেন). The waiter brings them two menus (খাবার পরিবেশনকারী তাদেরকে দুটি খাবার তালিকা দিল). Mr and Mrs Khan are looking at one and their daughter Nafisa looking at the other (মি ও মিসেস খান একটি খাবার তালিকা দেখছেন এবং তাদের মেয়ে নাফিসা আরেকটি তালিকা দেখছে). The little boy Tuhin aks for a menu (ছোট বালক তুহিনও একটি খাবার তালিকা চাইল). The waiter quickly bring him a menu (খাবার পরিবেশনকারী তৎক্ষণাৎ তাকে আরেকটি খাবার তালিকা এনে দিলেন).

Waiter : Are you ready to order, sir (জনাব, আপনারা কি খাবারের আদেশ দেবার জন্য প্রস্তুত)?

Mrs Khan : OK (ঠিক আছে). Two corn soup (দুটি কর্ণ স্যুপ), two fried rice (দুটি ফ্রাইড রাইস), grilled chicken four pieces and one chicken burger (চারটি চিকেন গ্রিল এবং একটি চিকেন বার্গার).

Tuhin : May I have some chips, Ma (মা, আমি কি কিছু চিপস নিতে পারি)?

Mr Khan : would you like anything else, Nafisa, Tuhin (নাফিসা, তুহিন তোমাদের আর কিছু লাগবে)?

Nafisa : aa… Can I have an ice-cream (আ আ… একটি আইস-ক্রিম পেতে পারি).

Mother : Of course, we all will have ice-cream (অবশ্যই, আমরা সবাই আইসক্রিম খাব).

Waiter : What would you like to drink (আমনারা কি পান করতে চান)?

Tuhin : Can I have a soft drink Baba (বাবা, আমি কি কোমল পাণীয় পেতে পারি)?

Mr Khan : No, they are bad for health (না, এগুলো স্বাস্থের জন্য ক্ষতিকর). We’d just have mineral water (আমরা শুধু মিনারেল ওয়াটার নিব).

Waiter : Chilled or room temperature, sir (ঠান্ডা না সহনীয় তাপমাত্রার, জনাব)?

Mrs Khan : Room-temperature, please (সহনীয় তাপমাত্রার).

Waiter : Ok (ঠিক আছে). Madam, the order is 2 corn soup, 2 fried rice, grilled chicken 4 pieces, 1 chicken burger, chips, 4 ice-creams and mineral water (ম্যাডাম, ২টি কর্ণ স্যুপ, ২টি ফ্রাইড রাইস, ৪টি চিকেন গ্রিল, ১টি চিকেন বার্গার, চিপস, ৪টি আইস-ক্রিম এবং মিনারেল ওয়াটার). Just give us 15 minutes (খাবার পরিবেশন করতে ১৫ মিনিট সময় লাগবে). Thank you (ধন্যবাদ).

Answer:

1. Four people are sitting at the corner table (কোনার টেবিলে ৪জন লোক বসে আছে).

2. The waiter brings them three menus (খাবার পরিবেশনকারী তাদের জন্য তিনটি খাদ্য তালিকা আনে).

3. Tuhin asks for a menu to select the food items they will eat (তারা যে খাদ্য খাবে তা নির্বাচনের জন্য তুহিন খাবার তালিকা চায়).

4. The waiter is ready for order (খাবার পরিবেশনকারী অর্ডার নেবার জন্য প্রস্তুত).

5. They have ordered seven items of food (তারা সাত প্রকারের খাবারের অর্ডার করেছে).

6. Tuhin wants some chips (তুহিন কিছু চিপস চায়). All of them will eat ice-cream (তারা সবাই আইসক্রিম খাবে).

7. Because soft drinks are not as good as a mineral water (কারন কোমল পাণীয় মিনারেল ওয়াটারের মতো ভালো নয়). They are bad for health (সেগুলো স্বাস্থ্যের জন্য ক্ষতিকর).

C. Work in pairs (যুগলভাবে কাজ কর). Write a dialogue between a waiter and a customer in a restaurant, giving and taking orders for the following food items (নিচের খাদ্য তালকা হলে আদেশ দেয়া ও নেয়ার ওপর একজন পরিবেশক এবং একজন ক্রেতার মধ্যে একটি সংলাপ তৈরি কর). When you finish writing, act out the dialogue (লেখা শেষ হলে সংলাপটি অভিনয় কর).

Answer:

Waiter : Good noon, sir (শুভ দুপুর, জনাব). How can I help you (🠊 🠊আমি আপনাকে কিভাবে সাহায্য করিতে পারি)?

Customer : I want to take lunch at your restaurant (আমি আপনার রেস্তোরাঁয় দুপুরের খাবার খেতে চাই).

Waiter : It is a pleasure, sir (এটি আনন্দের কথা, জনাব). Please order the menu (অনুগ্রহ করে খাবারের আদেশ দিন).

Customer : Please bring  the menu (খাবারের তালিকা নিয়ে আসেন).

Waiter : Here it is (এই নিন).

Customer : I see you have all the local food items (আমি দেখছি আপনাদের এখানে সব দেশী খাবার আছে). I was exactly looking for them (আমি সত্যি এগুলোই খুজছিলাম).

Waiter : Please, mention sir (অনুগ্রহ করে নাম উল্লেখ করুন, জনাব).

Customer : Please, bring me some rice, vegetables, dal and fish curry (আমার জন্য কিছু ভাত, সবজি, ডাল ও মাছের তরকারি নিয়ে আসুন).

Waiter : Drinks (পানীয়)?

Customer : Fresh juice and mineral water (তাজা ফলের শরবত ও মিনারেল ওয়াটার).

Waiter : Here they are, sir (এই যে সবগুলো, জনাব).

Customer : The foods are really tasty (খাদ্যগুলো সত্যি সুস্বাদু). Have you brought the bill of fair (আপনি কি মূল্য তালিকা এনেছেন)?

Waiter : Yes, sir (হ্যাঁ, জনাব). It is only 350 taka (৩৫০ টাকা মাত্র).

Customer : Take the bill (মূল্য নিন). Thank you (আপনাকে ধন্যবাদ).

Waiter : It’s my pleasure (এ আমার আনন্দ).
