Life Is Beautiful! Lessons 1-2
A. Listen and read (শোন এবং পড়).
It's a beautiful spring day (এটি একটি সুন্দর বসন্তের দিন). Maria gets up early (মারিয়া তাড়াতাড়ি ঘুম থেকে উঠে পড়ে). She feels happy (সে খুশি খুশি বোধ করে). She knows that it's a nice day because she puts her hand on the glass of the window (সে জানে যে এটি একটি সুন্দর দিন কারণ সে জানালার গ্লাসে তার হাত রাখে). It is very warm (এটা খুব গরম). After Maria gets dressed and has her breakfast, she puts her books in her bag (মারিয়া পোশাক পরে প্রাতঃরাশ করার পরে, সে তার বইগুলি তার ব্যাগে রাখে). She is ready for school (সে স্কুলের জন্য প্রস্তুত). Maria is a lot like any other students in her neighbourhood (মারিয়া তার আশেপাশের অন্য যে কোনও শিক্ষার্থীর মতোই). She goes to school and likes to be with her friends (সে স্কুলে যায় এবং তার বন্ধুদের সাথে থাকতে পছন্দ করে). She cannot see the flowers, the blue sky, or the singing birds (সে ফুল, নীল আকাশ বা গানের পাখি দেখতে পায় না). She cannot see the new green leaves on the tress (সে গাছে নতুন সবুজ পাতা দেখতে পায় না). She cannot see these because she is visually impaired (সে এগুলি দেখতে পাচ্ছে না কারণ সে দৃষ্টিপ্রতিবন্ধী). She has been unable to see since she was born (জন্মের পর থেকে সে দেখতে পাচ্ছে না).

But Maria is happy (কিন্তু মারিয়া খুশি). She goes to school everyday (সে প্রতিদিন স্কুলে যায়). She can learn the information because she reads Braille (সে তথ্য শিখতে পারে কারন সে ব্রেইল পড়ে). Braille is a script that uses raised dots (ব্রেইল এমন এক প্রকার লিপি যাতে বিন্দুগুলো উপরে তোলা রুপে ব্যবহার করা হয়). Each letter is made from dots (প্রতিটি অক্ষর বিন্দু থেকে তৈরি করা হয়). People move their fingers across the raised dots to read (লোকেরা পড়ার জন্য উত্থাপিত বিন্দুগুলি জুড়ে তাদের আঙ্গুলগুলি নাড়াচাড়া করে). Maria learned to read Braille as a young child (মারিয়া ছোটবেলায় ব্রেইল পড়তে শিখেছিল). Her books at school are in Braille (স্কুলে তার বইগুলি ব্রেইলে রয়েছে). She enjoys reading poems and history (সে কবিতা এবং ইতিহাস পড়তে পছন্দ করে). Maria's teacher says that she is a good learner (মারিয়ার শিক্ষক বলেন যে সে একজন ভাল শিক্ষার্থী).
B. Read the story again (গল্পটি আবার পড়). Choose the best answer (সর্বোত্তম উত্তরটি চয়ন কর).

Maria hopes to go to university one day (মারিয়া একদিন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে যাওয়ার আশা করে). Her teachers think that she can (তার শিক্ষকরা মনে করেন যে সে পারবে). Maria wants to set up a school of her own so that she can teach visually impaired children (মারিয়া তার নিজের একটি স্কুল স্থাপন করতে চায় যাতে সে দৃষ্টিপ্রতিবন্ধী শিশুদের শেখাতে পারে). Before this, Maria wants to be a writer (এর আগে মারিয়া লেখক হতে চায়). She wants to write a book about her feelings and experiences (সে তার অনুভূতি এবং অভিজ্ঞতা সম্পর্কে একটি বই লিখতে চায়). 5. A farmer grows crops, such as rice (একজন কৃষক ধানের মতো ফসল উৎপন্ন করেন). We get our food from this person (আমরা এই ব্যক্তির কাছ থেকে আমাদের খাবার পাই).
6. A business person buys and sells things in Bangladesh or in other countries (একজন ব্যবসায়ী বাংলাদেশ বা অন্যান্য দেশে জিনিস কেনেন এবং বিক্রি করেন).
G. Pairwork (জোড়ায়-জোড়ায় কাজ). Talk about the jobs in Activity F (কাজ F-এ চাকরি সম্পর্কে কথা বল). Which job would you like to do (তুমি কোন কাজটি করতে পছন্দ কর)? Why (কেন)?
A: I would like to be a pilot (আমি পাইলট হতে চাই). I would like to visit other countries (আমি অন্যান্য দেশ পরিদর্শন করতে চাই).
B: I would like to be a teacher (আমি একজন শিক্ষক হতে চাই). I would like to work with children (আমি শিশুদের নিয়ে কাজ করতে চাই).

H. Write three sentences about what you would like to do in the future (ভবিষ্যতে তুমি কী করতে চাও সে সম্পর্কে তিনটি বাক্য লিখ). Use the information from Activity F (কাজ F থেকে তথ্য ব্যবহার কর).
